The Hughley Foundation is a Non-profit organization founded by Leteia Hughley in honor of her late father Darnell “Coach” Hughley. The purpose of the foundation is the serve the children of the Flint area in areas of scholarship and academic assistance. “Coach” Hughley was an avid coach and athlete in the Flint area for many years. He played basketball, football, and baseball. He spent a great deal of his life coaching and serving as a security guard at Northern High School. He loved children and did everything he could to encourage them to do their best in life.

Many of his athletes remember his messages were often brutally honest but out of love. You will often hear that he was a coach that spent just as much time with the weakest player as he did with the star player. “Coach” Hughley had knack for bringing the best out of children  whether that meant a stern talking to or giving them their first piece of athletic equipment. “Coach” was respected and loved for his toughness and his ability to motivate and give his players hope despite the score.

The Hughley Foundation was created to honor a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle,friend, and to continue the his legacy. Through the foundation, children in the Flint area will always have a resource that is a source of hope and motivation….like Coach Hughley.
